Another company name: Official Blog

Early last month Mayor of Topeka, Kansas shocked the world by announcing that his city was to change the name to Google. We have been wondering ever since how to best honor to move gesture. Today we are pleased to announce that from 1am on April 1, Google has formally changed our name to Topeka.

In an attempt to win the bid as a test site for Google Baroadband services, re mayor of Topeka in Kansas City from Topeka's name to Google.

We do not have this conclusion easily, because we had a lot of brand equity tied up in our old name. But the more we surfed around Topeka community site, the more we feel kinship with this beautiful city on the edge of the Great Plains.

Actual expressed Google Topeka Mayor Bill Bundles it best: "Do not be fooled. While Google acknowledges that all roads lead to Kansas, not just the yellow brick them."

Topeka Mayor Bill Bundles issued a proclamation among all Topeka residents to refer to their city as "Google, the capital of Kansas Beach optics" for the month demo.

Early in the 20th century, had the former Topeka a remarkable sequence of political importance, grace the nation with Margaret Hill McCarter, the first woman to address a national political convention, Charles Curtis, the only Native American ever to serve as Vice President Carrie Nation, head of the old temperance movement and most importantly, Alfred E. Newman, arguably the most influential person for a whole generation of Americans. We could not be happier to add our own chapter to this storied past.

A change this dramatic will not happen without consequences, perhaps even with some interruptions. Here are some of the difficult issues that we hope everyone in the greater Topeka people will remember when we begin one of the most important transitions in our company history.

Well, what do you think of this temporary change to the name of Topeka Kansas to Google? Sounds good? I bet not. But the policy change command.
